Most of what makes us is our DNA so how can you upgrade your biological software?
Think of your DNA like a computer and it’s operating system; some people run on MacOS, some on Windows and some on Linux.
The computer is rigid and cannot be changed easily however the operating system (software) is flexible and can be updated.
Each of these different operating systems have their pro’s and con’s.
Because each of them are designed to excel at different kinds of tasks.
They can all perform many of the same tasks but if you need to perform a particular task really well; you need some optimization.
Now we can’t choose our DNA but we can make the most of the food we feed it (literally and figuratively).
If a computer irrespective of its operating system isn’t receiving maintenance it will slow down and eventually die.
Bad information can corrupt the computer, this could be a malicious virus or poorly written instructions.
Both a virus or poorly written instructions will harm the performance and preoccupy the operating system with bad habits (routines).
A well looked after computer has several ingredients:
1) Software updates (Software)
The operating system and individual programs or apps will receive regular updates to ensure they are still compatible with the ecosystem around them. Updates may also ensure the apps are secure, running efficiently or improve the performance and capabilities.
2) Up to date and quality Anti-virus (Software)
The computer will be aware of bad code, viruses and commonly exploitable routines. It will have measures to detect and block infringements on its processes.
3) Sensible operating procedures (for the Software)
It’s user will be aware of malicious websites, phishing & social engineering scams, insecure websites and foreign devices that may harbor Trojans. The user will take care to avoid these things so the computer is not exposed.
4) Service Providers (mostly Software)
The local computer store, internet service providers, hosting providers, email providers, cloud storage providers, app stores, search engines. You get the picture; a modern computer has service providers constantly offering new and improved products so it can better shape its self to perform tasks.
5) Additional Inputs and Outputs (which connect to Software)
Networks, routers, internet connections, speakers, screens, keyboards, a mouse, microphones, cameras or Bluetooth devices will all provide valuable information for your operating system to work with. These devices create a miniature eco system or connect it to a wider eco system. You can think of an internet enabled computer like a person living in a big city and a non-internet enabled computer like a person living in a tiny town in the country. Both have different lifestyles and opportunities.
6) Surge protection
A power source that is surge protected will prevent the computer and its operating system from being destroyed during a storm or power surge. Though rare the cost of surge protector device reduces the likelihood of a catastrophic event at low expense.
7) New parts & refurbishment
This is usually when its getting older but swapping over a power-pack, memory chip, keyboard or mouse will extend its life.
Like your computer, you must use several ingredients to upgrade your biological software.
Did you notice how many ingredients related to the flexible part – the software? Most of them were and we are no different.
There’s no doubt that we can upgrade our biological software.
You can dictate your own purpose however you need to decide: are you an internet enabled device or are you without a connection?
Do you have anti-virus? i.e. the right mindset
Are you running software that’s full of bugs? i.e. are you demoralized by watching the ‘News’
Could you be running better software? i.e. are your actions aligned to your goals
When was the last time you updated your code base? i.e. have you read a good book or blog recently
Are you playing games instead of building your dreams? i.e. are you wasting your time eating junk food, sleeping in or watching TV.
It’s time to UPGRADE!
It is almost impossible to change ones operating system (DNA) however we can control what software, information and inputs we process.
Indeed you can upgrade your biological software.
Doing this right enables us to MASSIVELY improve our circumstances.
Especially when we do it regularly – think of it like compound interest.
The sooner you start the sooner you build momentum.
Don’t you want an optimized operating system? I do.
Your subconscious, internal thoughts and external expressions are all part of your environment.
Secondly the diet you have, your hydration habits, sleeping routine and the air you breathe are all part of your environment.
Next your workplace, neighborhood, city and state are all part of your environment.
Friends, family, acquaintances and pets are all part of your environment.
Furthermore, how you choose to live, where you choose to live and with whom you choose to live all make up your environment.
Finally, your inner monologue, your imagination and the memories you choose to store are all part of your environment.
Are you living the life you always wanted?
Do you have the income or scenery you’ve always sought?
If the answer is no then you are the product of your environment and your environment needs to change.
In short the only person who can change your environment is you.
